About Our Program

The Agricultural Production Certificate prepares students for a career in the production of crops and livestock in northern Illinois. This certificate allows for many electives so that students can personalize their educational experience to match their career goals.

Nature of Work and Employment

Career pathways in the Agricultural Production program may include employment on a production crop and/or livestock farm. Current employment potential in these areas is very good with a variety of options for work and advancement.

Special Considerations

All students enrolled are required to complete a workplace experience before graduating. Students are strongly encouraged to seek the advice of an agriculture instructor or an advisor to assist with class schedules, workplace experiences, scholarship opportunities, and employment placement.

• Gain foundational knowledge in crop and/or animal production, agricultural technology, and agricultural business concepts.
• Utilize financial concepts, reports, and statements to manage agribusiness operations
• Apply commodity marketing strategies to maximize business profitability.
